Service kit
- Multimeter with a resistance range that reads below 10 Ω cleanly, for coils across the lugs, fuses, and the 5 V, 12 V, 20 V and 50 V test points.
- Trifurcon crimp terminals, .156 inch for the driver board power and lamp connectors and .100 inch for the switch and logic connectors, with matching housings and square-pin headers, and a ratchet crimp tool made for them. A browned or loose connector is replaced, never sprayed.
- Contact cleaner: DeoxIT D5 spray, or the European one-can equivalent Kontakt 60 PLUS. Plain Kontakt 60 only with the WL rinse and 61 protectant its maker calls for. For intact, merely dirty connectors only.
- DeoxIT D100L or another liquid deoxidizer, for the edge connectors and pin headers you can brush.
- Isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes, for boards and playfield plastics.
- Card stock for switch contacts: close the switch on it and pull it through. No files, no sandpaper, no spray on switches.
- Soldering iron with a fine tip, 60/40 or 63/37 leaded solder, desoldering braid, and a header pin extractor for the driver board's IDC connectors.
- Spares that pay for themselves: a set of fuses in every rating on the Fuse List, #44 or #47 lamps, #906 flashers, flipper links, a coil sleeve or two, and a 1N4004 diode strip.
What the yearly round and the appendices assume is on the bench; the same for every device, so it is not tracked here. Why each one, and what not to buy, is in A7 Connectors and cleaning.
